Description :
Open access has become an increasingly important and potentially divisive issue in
recent years, as journal inflation rates have increased. For many librarians and
scholars, journal price inflation is itself the central problem and open Access Journals
is the solution. There are some directory services, which bring all these scattered
journals together and provide access. The present paper will be dealing in study of four
major Directories which are efficiently providing services to the users i.e. Directory of
Open Access Journals (DOAJ), African Journals Online (AJOL), Bioline International
and Highwire (Stanford University). The main aim of this paper is to study subject wise,
country wise and language wise availability of OA Journals in each directory. The paper
also deals with availability of library and information science journals and country wise
analysis of these directories.
